NEWS: Nite Owl to Close for Renovations

...while it's checkered past lists the Nite Owl as a coffee shop and jazz club at various points over the last 30-odd years, ownership of the Nite Owl has, in fact, changed hands and a resulting name change is soon to follow. According to new management, the venue will close in May (an exact date still remains elusive; our best sources say first part of May) and will stay closed for two months as the owners renovate the space. The club will re-open at Blind Bob's at some point in the future, with an emphasis on the "25 and up crowd", serving food and being strictly 21 & up...

..While it remains to be seen how this will affect the local music scene, it stands to reason that the reputation that the Nite Owl worked hard to build over the last 5+ years may very well be gone. Stay tuned....

this is the worst thing to happen to dayton since elbos...

fuck a 25 & up crowd

fuck hearty soups

i'm sure they wont have a problem booking bands with members under 25, as long as it brings people who in turn bring money into their establishment.

no thanks.

The name alone tells me how badly it will suck. Are they trying to be the Tumble Weed Connection? BRING BACK THE NITE OWL!

Ebb and flow, people. Sure, the Night Owl as we know it might be completely different after this month, but it coincides with the Dayton Dirt Collective's first show at their new space downtown. I think the DDC is going to be a very exciting asset to the Dayton music community.

I propose that if this happens that all of the punks in dayton have a blind bob's sit in, since that is the clientel that blind bob's is trying to get rid of.

As good of an idea and great it is that the DDC space is opening up, the location of the Nite Owl is fucking priceless. Every time I drive past it at night I roll my window down to see if I recognize who's playing. They also let the 18+ crowd in which is very nice. Younger kids are excited to saturate themselves in Dayton's music scene. The fact that the DDC is all ages is excellent, but playing/going to shows at a bar is a great experience, especially at 18 years old.
