Grizzzzy Bear Changes Name
...perhaps it was all the confusion with Grizzly Bear, perhaps it was the confusion between the solo work of Brian Baker and the live band, but whatever the reasoning Grizzzzy Bear has announced that will now be known as Friday Night Vampire Club. They will make their first appearance under the new moniker next Wednesday night at Canal Street Tavern for The Buddha Den Presents with Pretty & Nice (Boston), Eat Sugar (Cincinnati), and 8-Bit Revival....

Dayton wins for terrible band names.
So instead of being exactly similar to Grizzly Bear, this band's name will now be mostly similar to the band Vampire Weekend?

the ohio players, brainiac, guided by voices, the breeders, zapp and roger, the keynote speaker, ohio casket,the motel beds, shesus, slave, sun, lakeside.

grizzzzy bear has always been Brian's solo stuff, way prior to Grizzly Bear , Parker Bowman. Friday Night Vampire Club was a grizzzzy bear track name, a song that is 3 years old now.
Friday Night Vampire Club is one of the best band names I've ever heard - and extremely fitting for the band's music.
its a shame they aren't a shitty dayton punk rock band, or you would be saying how "rad" the name was. jealous people are what hurts the dayton music scene, what the fuck is a name anyways, its about the music, while you debate over the internet how much you dislike the name, the band is working on an amazing album, go outside, mow the lawn, apply for aarp, stop refreshing pitchfork, its the weekend.

every band and every pocket of collectives in dayton are doing something great. the fans in dayton are more supportive now then ever, sadly there is that pocket that will just hate on bands such as friday night vampire club for no reason at all, we are the world, lets hold hands and watch the sun set.

I like a few Dayton bands, I don't like a few Dayton bands. A band name doesn't make you, nor does it break you, as dumb, or as great as it may be. Regardless, I do appreciate young bands doing their own thing and writing their own music. The true douchebags are the cover bands that are currently making $400 plus guarantees a night to play Stevie Ray Vaughn songs.
