Ram On Again
...yesterday we reported on the Ram on L.A. compilation that's been put up as a free download by Aquarium Drunkard to benefit No More Landmines. Well, as reported by Pitchfork, independent New Jersey radio station WFMU is gearing up for their annual pledge drive and will be offering up their own remake of Paul & Linda McCartney's 1971 classic, Ram. Pretty strange coincidence, right?
..The WFMU remake, called Tom (after "Best Show" host Tom Scharpling), will feature contributions from Death Cab for Cutie, Portastatic, Aimee Mann, Ted Leo, and several others. While boasting a more notable cast of contributors, this version also comes with a price tag: a $75 donation to WFMU gets you the disc...
...we gotta say, two comps featuring tons of bands remaking such an overlooked classic as Ram at the same time is fairly serendipitous. Do yourself a favor and pick up the original as well...
