NME C86 Tape Surfaces

...there are musical strains that people always talk about but precious little evidence remains of their existence: No Wave, Freakbeat, and the pool from which the likes of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart currently draw, C86. The name itself comes from a cassette sampler put out by the ubiquitous New Musical Express in 1986 along with their magazine. Certainly it's something more talked about than actually heard. In fact, we've been trying to track it down for quite some time...

...Well, lucky for us our new friends over at Chocolate Bobka served it up today as a FREE DOWNLOAD. Including such notables as The Wedding Present, Primal Scream, and The Soup Dragons, this is a stunning amalgamation of everything that had come before, was currently in vogue at the time, and where underground music has gone since. We highly recommend grabbing this before its gone...

MP3: The Wedding Present "This Boy Can Wait"
