...we at The Buddha Den are very pleased to bring you another installment of our monthly Showcase series at South Park Tavern. This month we are extremely excited to host Jordan Hull, who will be celebrating the release of his self-titled debut CD. Our sources tell us that Hull has put together an all-star band to back him up for this evening, so you don't want to miss this one....

...as always, this event is FREE and ALL AGES. Music starts PROMPTLY at 9 PM, with a second set starting around 10:30. If you wanna find out what we've been talking about, come on down tonight and see for yourself. Besides, South Park Tavern just opened up their new patio....

The Buddha Den Showcase Presents: Sitandance 7.12.08

...braving the sweltering heat and the intermittent thunderstorms, an impressive crowd gathered last evening to witness the fourth installment of The Buddha Den Showcase at South Park Tavern. This time around, we featured Sitandance, who turned in one of the most memorable sets we've ever seen at these events. Donning some of the shiniest costumes around, the band began the evening in a subdued, countrified manner with a handful of acoustic tunes including a tasteful cover of The Beatles' "I'm Only Sleeping". Once the band went full throttle into the electric material, however, the evening really took off. Sitandance's penchant for instantly recognizable melodies fused with inventive, experimental twists and turns throughout their arrangements held the audience rapt for the duration of the evening. As the band roved between instruments, filling up their arrangements with trumpet, violin, xylophone, and anything else they could find, the atmosphere was that of a symphony that simply could not find enough musicians to fill all the seats. Despite the deficiency in numbers, Sitandance is one of the most exciting newer bands coming up through Dayton at the moment. Adding in their flair for the vaudevillian element, certainly this was a show for the ages...

...it's time again for The Buddha Den Showcase, kids. This month at South Park Tavern, we're featuring indie-poppers Towhee, who we also featured back in January on our inaugural seasonal sampler. The band will be doing two short sets (at 9 and 10:30). The Buddha Den Showcase Presents: Towhee 5.10.08

...following up on the success of our first big showcase featuring Andrew & the Pretty Punchers, we're gonna do it again May. This time around we're featuring the indie pop sweethearts, Towhee. The band has garnered some serious press accolades over the last year on the strength of the their debut disc, Streetlights. They've grabbed ears with their subdued, yet elegant brand of indie rock. We're very pleased that Towhee is participating in The Buddha Den Showcase Series...

The Buddha Den Showcase Presents: Andrew & The Pretty Punchers 4.12.08

...we here at The Buddha Den are very pleased to announce our first foray in show promotions as we will host the first installment in The Buddha Den Showcase series on Saturday, April 12 at South Park Tavern (the big orange building on Wayne). Our first featured artist will be one of our favorites, Andrew & the Pretty Punchers. The band is currently in the studio working on their debut, so you won't want to miss this one...

...DETAILS: South Park Tavern is located at 1309 Wayne Ave. Music will start at 9 PM. The band will do 2 short sets (one at 9 and one around 10:30). Before, between, and after the band The Buddha Den will play tracks from Dayton and beyond. Admission is FREE and is open to ALL AGES. Since we're starting early, make us your first (and last) stop of the night. Mark your calendars now...
